What are the closest airports to Meribel?
Chambery is the closest airport to Meribel. It is 1.5/2hrs from Chambery to Meribel.
How do we get to Meribel?
Many of the packages on our website include flights and transfers to Meribel. You would be met at your arrival airport by your rep and transferred to resort on the transfer coach. It is also easy to drive or take the Eurostar.
What is the best way to book flights?
Flights can be booked directly through the major airlines such as easyjet, BA and Fly Be. Our Flights to Meribel page has a full listing of the major airlines.
Is it easy to drive from the UK?
Yes. Book your ferry or tunnel crossing in advance. On arrival in Calais it is about 8/9 hours drive to Meribel. Check out our driving to Meribel section

Does the Eurostar connect with Meribel?
You can take the Eurostar from St Pancras or Ashford on the Friday night so that you arrive first thing on Saturday morning into Moutiers. You will be met in Moutiers and transferred up the hill to Meribel so that you can ski that day. Another option is to take the Eurostar on the Saturday morning and travel through the day taking in the views so that you arrive on the Saturday night in time for a vin chaud. The Train to Meribel page details the options. Most of the tour operators that run Saturday to Saturday can offer Eurostar as part of the package price.
Are there airport transfers to Meribel from Geneva?
Yes. There are plenty of companies that transfer from all the major arrival airports to Meribel. A shared transfer usually costs about £130 per person. Below are a few transfer companies that offer both shared and private transfers:
Car hire at the airport and locally?
Pre book your car hire in advance for picking up at the airport with www.holidayautos.co.uk If you fancy a couple of days out of resort then you can hire a car in Meribel itself. What are the best chalets for childcare?
The Chalet Hotel Alba and Chalet Hotel Tarentaise both have their own on site crèche and kids clubs. Other chalets that are good for children needing childcare are the Chalet Nant de Morel, Bellevue and Bambis. Have a look at our childcare in Meribel page
Is there a family lift pass option?
Where a family is made up of 2 adults and 2 or more children under 18 years then everyone pays the child price. The same ski area and 6 days or more must be booked.
Where can children ski for free?
Meribel: Loupiot, Cotes drag lift, Altiport drag and Fontany telecord.
Mottaret: Le Doron draglift, Ourson Telecorde and Chalets gondola

What can children do off the slopes?
There is plenty for children to do off the slopes. Meribel puts on weekly entertainment such as magic shows for children. There is tobogganing, swimming and ice-skating too. Have a look at our family ski page
What is Christmas like in Meribel?
Christmas is a magical time in Meribel. The resort has plenty of activities on during Christmas week for children and the twice weekly market is perfect for creating the Christmas magic. Your catered chalet will no doubt have a tree and turkey will be served for Christmas dinner. What better way to bring in Christmas Day than with a day on the slopes?
Lift Pass Questions
Can you get a group discount on lift passes?
For groups or families of 3 or over there is the TRIBU pass. This is 268 Euro for a 6 day 3 valley pass instead of 283 Euro
Which lift pass option should I go for?
If you are a group of 3 or more then the TRIBU pass above will be best. If you are a family of 2 adults and 2 or more children under 18yrs then the family pass will be best. If you are a beginner skier then the local area pass will suffice. However, if you are intermediate or above then the full 3 valley pass is the best option.
How do I pre book lift passes?
You can go online and pre book your lift passes. These can either be posted out to you so that you have it ready in your pocket for your first day skiing. Alternatively, you can pick it up at the lift pass office in resort. Resort lift pass link
Do you still need a passport photo for the pass?
No, passes are hands free now.
Do children in ski school need a pass?
Children aged 5 years and older will need a lift pass.

Can you hire avalanche transceivers?
Yes. These can be hired in ski hire shops as detailed above.
Can you buy equipment from the ski hire shops?
Yes. You can buy skis, boards and boots from the ski hire shops.
Can you hire a helmet?
Yes, helmets are available to hire.
Ski School Questions
Will the instructor speak English?
The ski schools will group same language children together where possible. Off peak dates may result in mixed classes. However, all instructors can speak English.
What age can children start ski school?
Children can take ski lessons from 5 years old. Children aged 3 and 4 years can go into the Piou Piou where they will have snow games on skis.
Where does ski school meet up?
Ski school usually meets up at the main Chaudanne area. During the peak weeks the ESF meets up at Rond Point des Pistes.
